Unlike polytheistic beliefs where multiple deities may compete for influence or power, Islam emphasizes the absolute sovereignty and authority of Allah.
There is no competition between Good and bad
There is no competition between good and evil, nor between Allah and any other entity. Allah is the creator of all things, both good and bad, and His omnipotence transcends any notion of rivalry or struggle.
The Quran reaffirms this concept, stating, “And if there was any deity in [the heavens and earth] other than Allah, they would both be ruined” (Quran 21:22). This verse underscores the singular authority of Allah, highlighting the impossibility of any competing force challenging His supremacy.
Islam forbids superstitions
Furthermore, Islam forbids the belief in superstitions or omens, emphasizing that only Allah holds the power to benefit or harm individuals.
The Quran states, “Say, ‘Only what God has decreed will happen to us. He is our Master: let the believers put their trust in God.” (Quran 9:51).
This verse reinforces the notion that reliance on anything other than Allah is futile, as He alone has control over destiny.
Some people may adhere to superstitions such as avoiding specific actions or seeking good luck charms, but Islam prohibits such beliefs.
Muslims do not attribute the powers to objects or rituals or persons
Everything is under the dominion of Allah, and attributing power to objects or rituals diminishes the belief in His omnipotence.
There is nothing and no one comparable to Allah
Moreover, Islam emphasizes that there is nothing comparable to Allah. While humans may share certain attributes with Allah, such as seeing or listening, the magnitude and scope of Allah’s attributes far exceed human comprehension. For example, while humans may see or listen, Allah sees and listens to all, simultaneously and without limitation.
Thus, human qualities are inherently distinct from those of Allah, who is beyond any semblance of weakness or struggle.
Islam upholds the belief in one all-powerful God, Allah, who reigns supreme over all creation. Rejecting notions of competition or rivalry, Islam teaches that reliance on anything other than Allah is misguided. By adhering to the oneness of Allah and recognizing His incomparable attributes, believers find solace, guidance, and strength in His eternal power and mercy.
